About the event
Experience Mozart’s mighty Symphony No. 40 and Handel’s Organ Concerto No. 6 in the historic setting of St Giles-in-the-Fields on Saturday 23 November at 7.30pm. Fabricio Brachetta conducts the London Arte Chamber Orchestra, with organist Jonathan Bunney in what promises to be a memorable night of music.
“Mozart’s 40th symphony is one of his later, more mature works”, said conductor Fabricio Brachetta. ‘It is very emotionally engaging – quite dark in parts, which is unusual for Mozart. He wrote it at a time of personal struggle, so it is full of unexpected drama.”
The performance fits into a larger three-year programme; last year St Giles hosted Mozart’s Symphony No. 39, and in 2020 the orchestra will play Symphony No. 41.
As well as a splendid organ concerto from Handel, the evening will open with a new work in one movement by the conductor, composed for his son, Luca.
Take a pew in the atmospheric 18th-century setting of St Giles, and prepare to be swept away by soaring melodies.
Sat 23 Nov, 7.30pm, St Giles in-the-Fields. for £12 (£8 concessions) or £14 on the door.
